Healing Gear: Table of Contents

The following links will take you to ratings of all relevant gear available for shaman healers. All ratings are listed in terms of "Healing Equivalent Points" (HEP), which represents the relative improvement in total healing output that's obtained by increasing your Healing rating by one.

For an explanation of the math behind these calculations, please read my Comparing Healing Gear series. The specific assumptions used in calculating these ratings are described in Healing Gear: General.

Back Hands Off-Hand Waist
Chest Head Shoulder Wrist
Feet Legs Totem Weapon (1H)
Finger Neck Trinket Weapon (2H)

An updated copy (as of Nov. 28) of the spreadsheet I used to calculate ratings is available through FileFront.

For a more general discussion of shaman gear, including enchants and gems, please see Building a Healer: Gear. In addition, changes occurring in 2.3 can be seen in New Gear in 2.3 and New Healing Gear in 2.3.

This is the first shaman blog I've seen in ages. Fantastic work, really.

Awesome work! My only problem with it is you rated Spirit wayyyy too high compared to mp5...

Draezele said...

Thanks for the kind comments!

Spirit is valued at 1/20 that of mana/5 because it provides the equivalent of 1/2 mana/5 outside of the 5-second rule. Assuming that you're outside the 5SR 10% of the time (I'm typically in the 10-20% range in most fights), that's 10% of 1/2, or 1/20. If you're purely chain-casting with no interruption, however, your values would be lower.

Fantastic work, especially the spreadsheet! Two items which my shaman use were not enlisted: White Remedy Cape (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24254) and Lightsworn Hammer (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=27538).

Added them both, Mutzliputzli! :) Thanks!

Hey there, just thought I'd leave my little thanks in here coming from the Shadow Council realm. There's so much useful info here for ele and resto shamans alike, glad someone's taking the time to help us maximize our usefulness! I've recommended your resources to my guild as well. Please keep it up :)

I just wanted to leave my thanks for your hard work. I've been using your lists quite a bit over the last couple of months, enough to where I feel like a bandit without at least leaving you praise.

A job very well done, 10/10.

I just wanted to say thanks for such a well thought out website. I access this website at least once a week to ensure I am making the right moves with my gear. All of the information is so useful and has improved my healing significantly. Thanks from the Warsong Realm.

My only comment, is that under rings, you've listed the Signet of Unshakable Faith from Moroes in Kara, and it is actually an offhand item :p

Draezele said...

Whoops!

That will be corrected in my next release. Thanks for the catch!

Now i have nothing bad to say but I noticed that you have noted(to my knowledge) what rank heals your using , this can have a massive effect on how much healing you can do during a fight.

Not to sound snobby but in all of my raids I consistently use rank 3 chain heals, while running without oils/flasks/foods or mana potions during any fight. Any feed back on this would be cool.

Hey Draezele,

The spreadsheet is fantastic.

Any plans to update it for Sunwell loots any time soon?

:)

Supapowa,

I actually tend to use CH 4 myself as it's the most efficient Rank in terms of amount healed/mana spent. The field are just set as default, so feel free to change them as you see fit.

And yes, I plan to add Sunwell loots. Still crazy-busy, but I'm slowly working on the spreadsheet in my off time.

Glad to see a site with up to date information for shaman healers =) It warms me heart. Thanks for putting this all together. It gives a lot of useful information That I can have my other shaman healers look at. Thank you.

I took the excellent spreadsheet and added in the Sunwell loot. It's on my google docs page. Hopefully the site author will take time to do the same soon.

Draezel,

Most excellent post, very informative. Wolf is my first healer and do enjoy running Kara with him. Looking forward to your Sunwell updates. Already ran MrT.

I've just re-speced my shammy from enhancement to resto for my guild raid runs and this list has been a great source of information in helping me gear up quickly.

I was a bit lost on where i should be looking for gear before I came across this website and you have been a great help.

Thanks and keep up the fantastic work!

Draezele! We need you! Please update! How am I to know what 2.4 gear to get?!?! The badges are piling up.......

Nice work, sorry to see it abandoned.

I have a brand new 70 shaman and needed to make sure I get the best gear in the shortest amount of time.

To update the spreadsheet, just add in the missing gear using your favorite site such as wowhead to get the stats.

As long as you don't try to insert any rows on the gear pages you should be fine. Feel free to "overwrite" any existing data should you run out of room.
